Lily Mills - sinds 1903 - 1960

Lily Thread

Located in Shelby, NC and founded in 1903, Lily Mills is the youngest of the thread companies represented in my Goodwill bin. By the 1940’s, twenty other textile companies had located in the same area. I could not find a closing date for Lily Mills; it may have remained operational until perhaps the 1960’s.

NOTE: A reader wrote in below and let me know that her grandfather, artist Kenneth Harris, designed the Lily Mills logo. His fine art work can be found in the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, VA. I just love these sort of connections, so thanks Frieda for giving us the insider info!
